RF/5/8/26 To receive the electrical testing report for the pavilion and toilet block and consider any remedial works and costs.
The electrical testing report for the pavilion and toilet block was received. The report confirmed that the electrical installations were satisfactory.
It was noted that the floodlights on the pavilion were not working. SJG, who had undertaken the electrical testing, had provided a quotation of £520.31 plus VAT for the supply and installation of two LED floodlights and replacement of the damaged meter box cover at the rear of the pavilion.
The Committee discussed the floodlights and noted that the Recreation Field was not currently used in the hours of darkness.
Resolved: To advise Full Council that, subject to the floodlights being safe, they could either remain in place or be removed, as there was no immediate requirement for them to be repaired.
Resolved: To proceed with the replacement of the damaged meter box cover.
RF/6/8/26 To consider the replacement of the damaged pavilion door and associated costs.
Following the July Full Council meeting, the Clerk had been given delegated authority to spend up to £1,250.00 on the repair and replacement of the damaged pavilion door.
A quotation of £1,235.00 had been received from a contractor to supply and fit a steel fire door to the rear of the pavilion.
The Committee noted that the work had been requested and would be arranged under the delegated authority previously granted by Full Council.
RF/7/8/26 To review the annual play area inspection report and consider any necessary repairs.
The annual play area inspection report was reviewed.
The report identified a requirement for additional signage on the play area and fitness equipment.
Action: The Clerk to obtain quotations for the required signage.
Small repairs to the play equipment were also identified. The General Maintenance Contractor had been asked to undertake these repairs and to repair the existing benches.
Further quotations would be obtained for other necessary minor repairs.
RF/8/8/26 To consider works required to the dyke alongside Mel Marshall Way and the Recreation Field.
The Committee noted that further correspondence had been received from residents of Mel Marshall Way regarding the dyke.
Resolved: That members of the Committee arrange a date to undertake clearance of the dyke and consider the removal of the tree stumps.
RF/9/8/26 To consider any other repairs or maintenance required to the Recreation Field and associated facilities.
Lincolnshire County Council had confirmed that repairs would be undertaken to the footpath between the Recreation Field and Church Close. Access to the Recreation Field would be required to enable the works to be completed.
It was noted that no further repairs to the car park were required at this stage. The General Maintenance Contractor would be asked to monitor the condition of the car park.
The Committee was advised that youths had been seen climbing onto the top of the storage container.
Resolved: To install signage on the container advising that climbing is prohibited and stating that the Parish Council accepts no responsibility for injuries arising from climbing on the container.
RF/10/8/26 To consider quotations for additional play equipment and make recommendations to Full Council where appropriate.
Following a site meeting with Kompan, a quotation of £22,025.10 including VAT had been received. The proposal would involve a small extension to the existing play area and the installation of additional equipment aimed at younger children.
The Committee considered the quotation to be a useful starting point for a potential larger project.
The need for replacement picnic benches was also discussed. It was agreed that Kompan should be asked for advice on suitable locations to ensure that the benches did not encroach on the safety zones of existing play equipment. The possibility of incorporating the picnic benches into a wider play area refurbishment was also discussed.
It was suggested that the views of children at Wrangle Primary School should be sought regarding potential improvements to the play area.
The possibility of moving the existing cycle rack outside the play area was also discussed to improve accessibility.
It was noted that, should the project proceed, grant funding would be sought.
Resolved: To recommend that Full Council consider the proposed play area improvements and to seek the views of children at Wrangle Primary School before progressing the project.
A further site visit with Kompan and other potential suppliers could be arranged following the consultation.
RF/11/8/26 Correspondence received, not covered on the agenda.
The Committee discussed the potential inclusion of CCTV as part of a larger project or refurbishment of the pavilion.
Action: Quotations for CCTV provision to be obtained.
